Printer Settings

A proper postscript printer - woohoo!

Today, I got a new toy, which I purchased online through ebay. A near new HP2250 Business Inkjet printer *drool* Tis a very nice toy ;) So where does it fit in to the picture in the home computer network? ...it hooks up with my Debian linux system ofcoz!

Firstly I had to recompile the kernel to include the following:
1) In the Parallel port support group, I selected the Parallel port support and PC-style hardware options.
2) In the Character devices group, I selected the parallel printer support.
3) In the Networking options group, I selected Appletalk protocol support.

Then, I ran dselect to select all the stuff that had CUPS somewhere in the package name (just to be sure), coz I need to share the printer with an Apple powerbook. After that, it was just a matter of booting the new kernel and accessing http://localhost:631 through my trusty MozillaFirebird web browser, which takes me to the CUPS admin web page so I can select and add my printer configuration.
